FNM Launches New Party Website

The Free National Movement will launch its new, powerful and state of the art official party website Tuesday, January 30, 2007, where 39 of the party’s 40 candidates selected to contest the country’s upcoming general election will be featured.

FNM Leader Hubert Ingraham said, “The FNM is committed to openness and transparency about its policies and plans for the Bahamian people, and is at the same time committed to using the most modern tools necessary to reach a broad cross section of Bahamians.

“With more and more Bahamians accessing information through the World Wide Web, it makes good sense for our party to provide for Bahamians and indeed the world, an easy to use and comprehensive vehicle to communicate who we are, what we accomplished as a government, and what we will do for the Bahamian people in the near future and beyond.

“We trust Bahamians with the information they need and deserve to have, and our new website is another important step in showing the Bahamian people that they can trust us to empower them with the facts.”

Features of the new FNM Website at www.freenationalmovement.org include:

► Meet Your Candidate Page – Featuring Photographs and Biographies of the FNM’s election candidates.

► News & Events Pages – Providing regularly updated statements by the FNM and party leader Hubert Ingraham, as well as full campaign rally coverage, and a calendar of party events.

Many months in the making, the website’s sophisticated platform also enables the party to display the views and opinions of everyday Bahamians through its People’s Voice page.

Editors Note:

The Free National Movement has a well-deserved reputation for setting the bar with communication, accountability and transparency. In 1992 the FNM published its manifesto, a detailed account of policies and intended actions for all to scrutinize as the organization successfully sought election in that year. In its ensuing 10 years in office, the FNM published many such accounts, illustrating repeatedly its commitment to hold itself accountable to the Bahamian people. That promise continues today.

The FNM website devotes an extensive section to Issues. Results of focus groups and national surveys defined the content of this important segment of the new party website.

Primary among the needs of Bahamians is the desire for an effective and accountable government capable of the efficient delivery of services. The FNM believe that the present government has failed miserably in this regard.

Having shrouded it's business in secrecy, the government has failed to adequately address a wide range of issues pressing on the minds of the Bahamian electorate; matters that include illegal immigration, access to land and land use, education and skills training, access to affordable health care, assurance of personal safety and the transformation of our economy into a modern, more efficient, and technologically savvy system.
